Campbell beats Jacksonville 89-83
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Lorne Merthie scored 22 points to pace Campbell to an 89-83 win over Jacksonville on Monday night.
Kyle Vejraska added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Camels (11-15, 8-9 Atlantic Sun), who snapped a three-game losing streak with the win. Jonathan Rodriguez chipped in with 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
The Dolphins (14-11, 12-4) were led by Ben Smith, who finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Travis Cohn added 11 points.
Campbell jumped out to a 46-27 lead at halftime, thanks to 57.1 percent shooting in the first half (16-for-28). The Camels finished the game shooting 53.8 percent (28-for-52), and outrebounded the Dolphins 39-34.
Jacksonville shot 57.7 percent from the free-throw line (15-for-26) and committed 16 team turnovers.
