Northwestern St. beats Cent. Arkansas, 79-77

CONWAY, Ark. (AP)—Damon Jones scored 19 points and pulled in seven rebounds to lead Northwestern State to a 79-77 victory Saturday over Central Arkansas.

Jones joined three other players with double-digit scoring in the win for Northwestern State (10-15, 2-8). The Demons pulled in 57 rebounds and scored 34 second-chance points, sorely needed as they went 27 of 72 in their shooting from the floor.

Central Arkansas (9-15, 2-9) came out to a 10-point lead early in the game, but the Demons fought back, taking a 39-33 lead going into halftime. The Bears shot slightly better than their opponents, hitting 27 of their 61 attempts, but the Demons stayed just ahead of off two free throws by Jones with seven seconds left.

Brooks Taylor led the Bears with 28 points and three rebounds in the loss.
