Tennessee cruises to 79-48 win over Georgia
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tyler Smith scored 15 points, leading Tennessee to an easy 79-48 victory over Georgia on Wednesday night.
Georgia, which is on an 11-game losing skid for the first time since 1974, committed 25 turnovers, the most in a Southeastern Conference game this season.
Tennessee (15-8, 6-3) used a 9-0 run to jump ahead early, and a Tyler Smith layup with 13:23 in the first half gave the Vols a 16-3 lead.
Georgia (9-15, 0-9) managed to turn the ball over several ways—knocking it out of bounds, a 5-second violation, shot clock violations and offensive fouls.
By halftime the Bulldogs had 17 turnovers, equal to their number of rebounds and one fewer than the number of shots they took.
Wayne Chism scored 13 points for the Vols, Scotty Hopson had 12, J.P. Prince added 11 and Williams had 10.
Trey Thompkins led Georgia with 10 points.
