Holy Cross beats Army 62-59
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP)—Alex Vander Baan’s steal with six seconds left and a missed 3-pointer by Army’s Nathan Hedgecock as time expired helped Holy Cross to a come-from-behind 62-59 win Wednesday night.
Vander Baan intercepted Josh Miller’s pass from the left elbow intended for Hedgecock in the corner. Pat Doherty then hit 1 of 2 from the line with 5 seconds left. An out-of-bounds play to Hedgecock bounced in and out of the basket as the buzzer sounded.
The Crusaders’ Andrew Keister led all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Colin Cunningham added 16 points.
Holy Cross (13-11, 8-1 Patriot League) fell behind the Black Knights (7-16, 3-6) early on, thanks in part of Army’s man-to-man halfcourt defense. The Crusaders opened the second half with a 10-0 run, and despite shooting 7-of-17 from the line, snatched the win.
Kenny Brewer scored 13 points for the Black Knights; Miller added 12.
