UMBC defeats New Hampshire 81-76

BALTIMORE (AP)—Jay Greene scored 36 points and Maryland-Baltimore County defeated New Hampshire 81-76 on Tuesday night.

Darryl Proctor added 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Retrievers (11-13, 5-7 American East Conference).

Maryland-Baltimore County shot 51.8 percent from the field (29 of 56) and led by as many as 13 points. Green hit a 3-pointer to give the Retrievers a 68-55 advantage with 9:19 left to play.

The Wildcats (9-14, 4-7) shot 39.3 percent from 3-point range (11-for-28) and hit just 5 of 8 from the free-throw line (62.5 percent).

Alvin Abreu paced New Hampshire with 20 points. Dan DiLiegro had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Tyrece Gibbs chipped in 16 points and five assists for the Wildcats.

New Hampshire won the first game of the season series, defeating Maryland-Baltimore County 64-47 on Jan. 14.
