Austin Peay beats Tennessee Tech 86-80
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Drake Reed scored 24 points, Kyle Duncan added 23 and both players hit a pair of free throws in the final 29 seconds to seal Austin Peay’s 86-80 win over Tennessee Tech on Monday night.
The Governors (14-10, 10-4 Ohio Valley Conference) led by seven points at the break, but the Golden Eagles (11-13, 5-9) battled back to take a 66-65 lead with 6:31 to play. The teams traded leads from there until Daniel Northern scored four points in just over two seconds to pull Tech within 80-78.
But Reed, Tyrone Caldwell and Duncan each hit a pair of foul shots in the game’s final 29 seconds, and held Tech scoreless the rest of the way to clinch the win.
Wes Channels added 18 points for the Governors.
Northern led the Golden Eagles with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Kevin Murphy added 16 points.
