Elon defeats Furman 74-66
ELON, N.C. (AP)—Ola Atoyebi scored 15 points and Elon defeated Furman 74-66 on Monday night.
The Phoenix (8-14, 5-9 Southern Conference) had a 28-27 lead before going on a 13-2 run in 5:32 to take a 41-29 advantage into halftime.
Elon led by as many as 18, 56-38 with 14:55 left to play on a Josh Bonney jump shot.
T.J. Douglass, Bonney and Brett James scored 12 points each for the Phoenix.
James surpassed Jackson Atoyebi for 17th place on Elon’s all-time scoring list on a jump shot with 3:03 left in the first half. James now has 1,222 career points.
Furman (5-18, 3-11) was led by Bryson Barnes with 16 points and Connor Nolte with 15.
Atoyebi grabbed eight rebounds and Elon won the battle of the boards 32-22.
The Paladins were 2 of 13 from 3-point range, while Elon shot 87.5 percent from beyond the arc (7-for-8).
