Liberty beats Winthrop 57-47
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP)—Seth Curry scored 16 points to lead Liberty to a 57-47 win over Winthrop on Saturday night.
Kyle Ohman added 11 points for the Flames (17-8, 8-5 Big South Conference), who won for the seventh time in their last nine games.
Curry, who came into the game averaging 20.4 points per contest, hit just 5 of 14 from the field. He went 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Charles Corbin led the Eagles (6-17, 5-8) with 12 points and Chris Malcolm had 10.
The Flames led by two points at halftime, but Liberty went on a 15-2 run during a five-minute span midway through the second to seal the win.
Liberty didn’t shoot very well in the game—40.8 percent (20 of 49)—but Winthrop was even worse, going 18 for 54 from the floor (33.3 percent).
The Eagles have lost four straight games.
