Wright St beats Valparaiso 68-58 behind Brown’s 20
DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—Todd Brown scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Wright State to a 68-58 victory over Valparaiso on Thursday night.
Cory Copperwood added 12 and Will Graham had 11 for the Raiders (14-9, 8-4 Horizon League).
Urule Igbavboa’s 21 points and 14 rebounds led Valparaiso (6-17, 3-9).
Valparaiso was ahead 28-27 at the break after Howard Little hit a 3-pointer and a layup in the half’s final 37 seconds. But after the teams battled on even terms for the first six minutes of the second half, Cooper Land scored on a layup to put Wright State ahead 36-35, and the Raiders led the rest of the way.
Both teams shot about 38 percent from the field. But Valparaiso was whistled for 29 fouls, to 18 for Wright State, and the Raiders capitalized at the free throw line, going 23-for-42 while Valparaiso was 11-for-18.
