Sam Houston St. beats UTSA 89-86 in 2 OT
SAN ANTONIO (AP)—Corey Allmond hit two free throws with six seconds left to give Sam Houston State an 89-86 double-overtime victory over Texas-San Antonio on Wednesday night.
UTSA’s Morris Smith IV missed a chance to tie it with a 3-pointer in the closing seconds.
Allmond and Barkley Falkner each scored 22 points for Sam Houston State (12-8, 6-1 Southland). Falkner hit a layup as time expired to tie the game at 79-79 at the end of the first overtime.
Omar Johnson led UTSA with 18 points, including the layup that sent the game into overtime tied at 69-69.
Lance Pevehouse scored 14 points for Sam Houston State.
Smith and Chris Allen each scored 15 points for UTSA (13-7, 4-3). Travis Gabbidon, Demarco Stepter and Josh Bonney each had 10.
