James Madison defeats Georgia State 82-69
ATLANTA (AP)—Julius Wells scored 24 points and Kyle Swanston added 23 as James Madison used a second-half surge to beat Georgia State 82-69 on Wednesday night.
The Dukes (15-9, 7-5 Colonial Athletic Association) led by 10 points with 6:03 left in the first half, but the Panthers (6-17, 4-8) went on a 17-6 run to take a 31-30 lead at halftime.
James Madison, which shot 37.9 percent in the first half (11 of 29), started the second half with a 13-3 run to pull ahead 43-34.
The Dukes increased the lead to 15 with 9:28 left and made 17 of 27 field goals in the second half (63 percent).
Joe Dukes hit a jumper to close within 10 with 4:35 left, but the Panthers could get no closer.
Georgia State, which has lost of its last five, had a 32-27 rebounding edge.
Dukes led the Panthers with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and Trae Goldston added 18 points.
