Creighton beats Drake 79-68
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP)—Creighton’s Booker Woodfox scored 23 points and Drake’s struggles at home continued as the Bluejays beat the Bulldogs 79-68 Wednesday, giving coach Dana Altman his 300th career win at Creighton.
Altman has won 383 games in 20 years and is the second MVC coach to win 300 games at one school.
Creighton (18-6, 8-4 Missouri Valley Conference) took its first lead of the second half at 42-41 on Woodfox’s 3-pointer with 10:17 to play. The Bluejays pulled away from there, handing Drake (14-10, 5-7) its sixth loss in seven games and third straight at home.
P’Allen Stinnett added 17 points for Creighton, which has won 14 of its last 18 games.
Jonathan Cox led Drake with 19 points. Josh Parker, who gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the game with 1:45 left in the first half, had 18 points. Drake kept the lead until Woodfox put Creighton back on top midway through the second half.
Josh Young also had 18 points for Drake.
