Jackson State tops Ark.-Pine Bluff 87-83

JACKSON, Miss. (AP)—Garrison Johnson scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half and Jackson State rallied to beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 87-83 on Monday night.

The Tigers (8-13, 7-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) trailed 46-41 at halftime before shooting 64.7 percent from the field in the second half (11 of 17), behind Johnson and 12 points from Darrion Griffin.

The Tigers, having not led since 13:36 left in the first half, took their final lead with 10:17 left to play on four consecutive free throws.

Johnson was fouled by Tavaris Washington, and then the Golden Lions (7-13, 6-3) were called for a technical foul. Four free throws later, Jackson State had a 61-57 lead.

Jeremy Caldwell added 20 points and Griffin finished with 18 for the Tigers.

The Golden Lions were paced by Terrance Calvin with 26 points and Washington with 15.
