Rider beats Canisius 68-55
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP)—Ryan Thompson scored 28 points to lead Rider to a 68-55 win over Canisius on Sunday.
Justin Robinson added 13 points and three steals for the Broncs (12-9, 7-4 Metro Atlantic Conference), while Mike Ringgold finished with nine points and four rebounds. Julius Coles had 19 points and seven rebounds for Canisius (7-15, 2-10), while Frank Turner added 16 points.
Rider led 32-27 at the break, but the Golden Griffins opened the second half with a 6-0 run to take the lead. Rider than responded with an 18-7 run—which featured 12 points by Thompson—to take the lead for good midway through the half.
Rider than sealed the win by making 9-of-10 free throws over the final 4:14, and its defense held Canisius scoreless for the final 1:57.
