ETSU beats North Florida 67-64
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Mike Smith notched a double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, to help lead East Tennessee State to a 67-64 win over North Florida on Sunday.
ETSU leads the all-time series against North Florida 7-0.
Kevin Tiggs chipped in 17 points for the Buccaneers (16-6, 10-2 Atlantic Sun Conference), who overcame a 10-point halftime deficit en route to victory.
The Buccaneers trailed 33-23 at the break, but chipped away the Ospreys’ (5-17, 3-9) lead in the second half.
With the Ospreys up 49-44, Tiggs’ layup with 10:06 remaining sparked a 12-2 ETSU run during the next five minutes that put the Buccaneers up for good. Tiggs scored seven points in the spurt.
Smith hit four free throws in the final 24 seconds to seal the game.
Eni Cuka scored 24 points to lead the Ospreys, including going 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.
