S.C.-Upstate beats Jacksonville 70-59
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Nick Schneiders scored 16 points, leading four South Carolina-Upstate players in double figures in a 70-59 win over Jacksonville on Sunday.
Mezie Uzochukwu added 15 points, Josh Chavis had 13 and Gabor Boros scored 10 for the Spartans (5-16, 4-8 Atlantic Sun Conference). Bobby Davis grabbed 11 rebounds, while both Boros and Chavis were 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Marcus Allen led the Dolphins (12-9, 10-2) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ayron Hardy scored 10, going 2-for-3 from 3-point range.
The Spartans opened the game on a 13-2 run and never looked back, as the Dolphins trailed the entire contest.
S.C.-Upstate shot 53.3 percent from the field (24 of 45) for the game compared to a 36.5 percent mark (19 of 52) for Jacksonville.
The win snapped a two game skid for the Spartans, and ended a nine-game winning streak for the Dolphins.
