Binghamton beats Maine 83-77
VESTAL, N.Y. (AP)—D.J. Rivera scored 23 points as Binghamton rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to beat Maine 83-77 in America East basketball on Saturday.
Malik Alvin added 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Binghamton (13-8, 6-3), while Bradon Herbert scored 15 points and Reggie Fuller chipped in 10.
Mark Socoby led Maine with 17 points.
With Binghamton struggling on offense and trailing by 14 points with 17:09 left to play in the second half, Rivera led a 25-7 run that turned a 47-33 Maine lead into a 58-54 Binghamton lead in a little more than six minutes.
Maine (8-13, 3-5) kept within striking distance until the game’s final minute. Binghamton had a 71-70 lead when Alvin scored a 3-pointer with 2:38 left, giving Binghamton a two-possession cushion.
Rivera hit a layup in traffic with 47 seconds left and the Bearcats sank 5-of-6 free throws in the final 37 second to seal the win.
