Drexel knocks off Towson 60-53
TOWSON, Md. (AP)—Gerald Colds scored 14 points and Drexel extended its winning streak to seven games with a 60-53 victory over Towson on Saturday.
Scott Rodgers added 12 points for the Dragons (12-8, 8-3 Colonial Athletic Association).
Junior Hairston had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Towson (8-15, 3-8), which shot only 33.9 percent from the field (19 of 56) and went 1-for-10 from 3-point range.
A pair of free throws by Evan Neisler gave Drexel its biggest lead at 42-32 with 9:49 remaining.
Towson cut the deficit to six points on Hairston’s jumper with 2:45 left.
Rocky Coleman’s basket pulled Towson to within four with 40 seconds left, but Drexel closed the game by making three of four free-throw attempts.
Rodgers scored 11 points and Drexel was 12 of 23 from the field (52.2 percent) for a 32-24 lead at the half.
