Chattanooga beats Georgia Southern 100-87
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP)—Stephen McDowell scored 27 points as Chattanooga defeated Georgia Southern 100-87 on Saturday.
Kevin Goffney had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Mocs (10-12, 6-5 Southern Conference). Keyron Sheard added 18 points.
Georgia Southern held a 47-46 lead at halftime. The Mocs tied the score at 60-60 with 15:10 remaining on a 3-pointer by McDowell. A 12-0 run midway through the second half to give Chattanooga a 75-66 lead with 8:43 remaining.
Chattanooga broke the 100-point mark for the third time this season. They shot 49.2 percent from the field (32-for-65), including 40.7 percent from 3-point range (11-for-27).
The Eagles (7-12, 5-6) were led by Antonio Hanson, who scored 26 points. Antoine Johnson added 17 points and eight assists.
The Mocs outrebounded Georgia Southern 39-30.
