Nicholls State beats Southeastern Louisiana 68-65
HAMMOND, La. (AP)—Ryan Bathie scored 25 points and Nicholls State defeated Southeastern Louisiana 68-65 on Saturday.
After Southeastern Louisiana (11-9, 4-3 Southland Conference) led 38-36 with 16:44 to play, Anatoly Bose hit a free throw and Fred Hunter connected on a jump shot to give Nicholls State a 39-38 lead with 14:57 left. The Lions wouldn’t regain the lead again.
The Colonels (10-10, 4-3) took a 49-42 lead with 10:37 left on Bose’s two free throws. The was cut to 57-56 on a DeShawn Patterson 3-pointer for the Lions with 4:25 to play.
Bose scored 14 points, going 11 of 14 from the free-throw line, and Hunter added 12 points for the Colonels.
Southeastern Louisiana was led by Chris Cyprian, who scored 14 points. Damon Forest had 11.
Nicholls State outrebounded the Lions 24-31 with Hunter and Kellan Carter grabbing six each.
