New Hampshire beats Stony Brook 71-60
STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP)—Eric Gilchrese scored 22 points to lead New Hampshire to a 71-60 victory against Stony Brook on Wednesday night.
Tyrece Gibbs added 18 points for the Wildcats (8-11, 3-4 America East), who trailed 34-25 at the half. Alvin Abreu scored 17 points.
Muhammed El-Amin scored a game-high 24 points for the Seawolves (11-10, 3-5). Tom Brenton grabbed 12 rebounds and scored six points.
El-Amin and Danny Carter made 3-pointers to give the Seawolves a 16-10 lead with 11:34 left in the first half.
The Wildcats opened the second half on a 13-4 run and tied it at 38 on a 3-pointer by Gibbs.
They took the lead for good, 45-42, on a 3-pointer by Gilchrese at 13:19.
New Hampshire used a 10-0 run, including two 3s by Abreu, to go up 52-42 with 10:38.
