OXFORD, Ohio (AP)—Antonio Ballard finished with 14 points and Miami of Ohio went on a 22-5 run in the first half on its way to an 80-52 home win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday night.
Michael Bramos scored the first of his 13 points on two early lay-ups and Miami (11-7, 4-2 Mid-American Conference) surged ahead.
Nick Winbush came off the bench to finish with 11 points, and Bramos added eight rebounds and four steals to his strong showing.
Northern Illinois (6-12, 2-4) out-rebounded the RedHawks but shot a season-low 30.9 percent from the field. Darion Anderson led the Huskies as the only scorer in double-digits with 13 points and eight rebounds.
A rapid series of fouls led the referees to issue technical fouls against Miami’s Carl Richburg and Northern Illinois’ Bryan Hall with just under five minutes left in the game.
