UMBC rallies to top Binghamton 84-78
CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP)—Darryl Proctor scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half and Maryland-Baltimore County rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat Binghamton 84-78 on Wednesday night.
Jay Greene scored 18 points and Chauncey Gilliam added 15 for the Retrievers (9-11, 3-5 America East Conference), who dressed only seven players because of injuries. Justin Fry had his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
D.J. Rivera scored 28 points, Emanuel Mayben had a career-high 20 and Brandon Herbert added 12 for the Bearcats (12-8, 5-3), who made a school-record 15 of 26 3-pointers.
A 3-pointer by Herbert gave the Bearcats their biggest lead, 35-18, with 5:53 left in the first half. UMBC opened the second half with a 14-5 run and the game was tied at 46 with 14:44 remaining.
The Retrievers led 68-60 with 7:02 remaining and did not trail again.
