Eastern Kentucky beats Austin Peay 73-70 in OT

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP)—Mike Rose scored seven of his 25 points in overtime to lift Eastern Kentucky to a 73-70 victory over Austin Peay on Tuesday night.

Rose, who also had seven rebounds and six steals, has scored 20 points or more 13 times this season for the Colonels (12-9, 5-5 Ohio Valley Conference).

Drake Reed led Austin Peay (12-8, 8-2), which had a six-game winning streak snapped, with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Rose’s dunk with 52 seconds left in overtime gave Eastern Kentucky a 71-68 lead. Rose and Josh Jones added free throws to seal the victory.

The Colonels didn’t score from the field during a 12-minute stretch in the second half and the Governors turned a five-point deficit into a 50-46 lead with 3:55 left in the game.

Justin Stommes scored 16 points and Josh Taylor added 15 for Eastern Kentucky.

Wes Channels added 16 points for Austin Peay.
