Calvin leads Lions to 67-62 win over Prairie View
PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP)—Terrance Calvin topped the scoring, led in assists and shared the rebounding lead for Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 67-62 victory Monday night over Prairie View.
Calvin’s 17 points and five assists led both categories for both teams. Along with teammate Lebaron Weathers, he also grabbed seven rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Eric Brooks was the only other Golden Lion to score in double digits, with 15 points.
UAPB (6-12, 5-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and Prairie View (9-11, 5-2) were tied at the half with 29 points each.
But the Golden Lions, who missed all four of their first-half 3-point attempts, began finding the mark from long distance after intermission, and sank 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
A big difference between the two teams was their accuracy in shooting from the line. UAPB sank 22-of-30 foul shots, while Prairie View hit only 16-of-33.
Jacoie Shivers and Derek Johnson shared scoring honors for Prairie View, each with 11 points. Christopher Jones added 10.
