Mississippi Valley defeats Prairie View 67-49
ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP)—Eric Petty scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Mississippi Valley State to a 67-49 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday night.
The Delta Devils (2-17, 2-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference), who had lost three games in a row, handed the Panthers (8-10, 5-1) their first conference loss and ended their five-game winning streak.
Mississippi Valley State broke open a halftime tie by going 14 of 26 from the field in the second half (53 percent) and outscoring the Panthers 41-23.
The Delta Devils also forced 23 turnovers.
Dwayne Harmason added 13 points for Mississippi Valley State.
Christopher Jones had 11 points and five rebounds to lead Prairie View A&M, which hadn’t lost since an 82-68 defeat at Texas State on Dec. 21.
