Georgia Southern downs Furman 69-53
STATESBORO, Ga. (AP)—Antonio Hanson scored 17 points and Georgia Southern defeated Furman 69-53 on Saturday night, keeping the Paladins winless this season in Southern Conference play.
The Eagles (7-10, 5-4), who won their sixth straight game against Furman (2-15, 0-8), allowed a season-low 53 points for the second straight game. Georgia Southern beat Wofford 74-53 on Thursday.
The Paladins, who lost their seventh game in a row and 17th straight game against NCAA Division I competition, held an opponent below 50-percent shooting for the first time in six games. The Eagles shot 46.3 percent from the field (19 of 41).
The Paladins outrebounded the Eagles 30-27, but also committed more turnovers—18 to 11.
Julian Allen added 13 points for Georgia Southern and Ben Drayton III had 12.
Bryson Barnes had 13 points for Furman and Jordan Miller added 12.
