UC Irvine rallies past Cal State Bakersfield 85-72

IRVINE, Calif. (AP)—Eric Wise scored 20 points and Kevin Bland added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead UC Irvine to an 85-72 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday.

Irvine (6-12) trailed by 11 points in the first half but rallied behind 14 second-half points from Michael Hunter to regain control.

The Anteaters cut the deficit to three points by halftime and opened the second half on an 18-6 run, capped by a lay-up by Adam Folker to take a 53-44 lead with 12:17 left.

Bakersfield (5-14) shot 50 percent in the first half and didn’t trail until Hunter hit a pair of 3-pointers to give the Anteaters a 42-40 lead early in the second half. Hunter finished with 17 points.

Trent Blakley led the Roadrunners with 18 points, while Terrence Johns and Alex Johnson each added 11.
