Liberty beats High Point 61-56

HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP)—Anthony Smith scored 24 points, including eight during Liberty’s game-clinching rally, in a 61-56 win over High Point on Tuesday night.

High Point (5-13, 1-7 Big South Conference) led 56-47 with 1:43 to play before Smith hit five consecutive free throws and a 3-pointer to bring the Flames’ deficit to 56-55 with 36 seconds left.

Kyle Ohman hit a go-ahead 3-pointer for Liberty with 17 seconds to play, and the Flames (14-6, 5-3) finished their 14-0 run with a Seth Curry layup and a free throw by Jesse Sanders.

Ohman finished with 19 points for Liberty, and Curry scored nine for his lowest point total since notching eight against St. Louis on Dec. 19.

High Point was led by Jourdan Morris with 15 points, Steadman Short with 14 and Eugene Harris with 11. David Singleton added 11 rebounds for the Panthers, who outrebounded Liberty 42-29.
