Vermont rolls past UMBC 76-42
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP)—Maurice Joseph scored a career-high 19 points and Marqus Blakely added 17 points and 16 rebounds as Vermont beat short-handed Maryland-Baltimore County 76-42 Monday night.
Darryl Proctor had 22 points and two assists for UMBC (8-9, 2-3 America East Conference), which dressed only seven players because of injuries.
Chauncey Gilliam added 15 points and nine rebounds as he and Proctor scored all but five of UMBC’s points.
Vermont (12-6, 3-2) built a 36-19 at the half, and the Retrievers never got closer than 14 in the second half at 37-23.
Vermont hit 12 of 26 3-pointers and outrebounded the Retrievers 50-29 while UMBC shot only 18 of 50 from the field.
