Maine beats New Hampshire 78-75 in double overtime
ORONO, Maine (AP)—Malachi Peay scored on a 3-point play off a feed from Mark Socoby, and Socoby added two free throws in the final minutes of the second overtime as Maine defeated New Hampshire 78-75 on Monday night.
Peay’s hit a layup on a fast break pass from Socoby, was fouled and added the free throw for a 75-72 lead with about 3 minutes left. Socoby’s free throws made it 77-72.
New Hampshire hit a 3-pointer, but missed several other shots in the final minute.
Gerald McLemore had 17 points to lead Maine (8-11, 3-3 America East Conference). Peay finished with 12 and Socoby and Kaimondre Owes had 11 each.
Tyrece Gibbs had 22 points and eight rebounds for New Hampshire (7-9, 2-2). Dane DiLiegro had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
With New Hampshire leading 61-55 in regulation, Maine forced three turnovers in the final three minutes to send the game into overtime.
