Long Island U. beats St. Francis, NY 74-70

NEW YORK (AP)—Jaytornah Wisseh had 27 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, Ron Manigault had 12 points and 12 boards and Long Island University beat St. Francis, N.Y., 74-70 in the “Battle of Brooklyn” on Monday night.

Jamaal Womack had 18 points and Stefan Perunicic added 14 for the visiting Terriers (4-13, 2-5 Northeast Conference).

The Blackbirds (9-8, 5-2) closed the first half on a 13-0 run to take a 33-24 lead. Manigault scored the last six points of the spurt.

LIU opened the second half with an 11-4 run to take its largest lead, 44-28, on a layup by David Hicks with 16:27 to play.

Ricky Cadell of St. Francis made two free throws to tie it at 60, but Hicks, who finished with 10 points, hit a 3-pointer to give the Blackbirds the lead for good.

LIU finished 20-of-26 from the free-throw line while the Terriers were 7-of-12.
