Texas A&M-C.C. beats Northwestern State 69-68

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP)—Kevin Palmer scored on a layup as time expired to lift Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to a 69-68 win over Northwestern State on Saturday.

Palmer, who finished with 25 points, hit a free throw with 11:38 remaining to give the Islanders (9-9, 3-0 Southland Conference) a 41-39 lead—their first since 7:06 left in the first half.

Northwestern (8-10, 0-3) led 37-29 with 15:41 remaining before the Islanders’ 10-2 run.

Northwestern, which trailed 67-62 with 22 seconds remaining, got back-to-back 3-pointers from Kiethan Hancock to bring the deficit to 68-67.

Tim Green added 21 points and Filip Toncinic scored 12 for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Damon Jones and Michael McConathy scored 12 each and Kalem Porterie added 10 for the Demons.

The Islanders shot 51.1 percent from the field (24 of 47) and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 17).
