Florida International beats Denver 59-57

MIAMI (AP)—Freddy Asprilla scored 20 points and Florida International beat Denver 59-57 on Saturday night.

Asprilla, who shot 8-for-10 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Golden Panthers (8-12, 3-4 Sun Belt Conference). Alex Galindo added 15 points and five rebounds.

Asprilla’s dunk with 1:07 remaining tied the score at 57-57. On the ensuing possession, Nick Taylor stole the ball from Denver’s Michael Stafford. After Florida International called timeout, Michael Dominguez was fouled with nine seconds remaining. He nailed both free-throws and Denver’s Sabatino Chen missed a jumper as time expired.

Nate Rohnert led Denver (7-11, 2-5) with 17 points. Andrew Hooper added 15.
