Western Kentucky beats Middle Tennessee 63-61

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Steffphon Pettigrew’s jumper with 4 seconds left gave Western Kentucky a 63-61 win over Middle Tennessee on Thursday night.

The Blue Raiders (11-6, 5-1 Sun Belt) led 47-41 with 11:28 remaining before Western Kentucky scored 11 unanswered points. During the Hilltoppers run, Middle Tennessee committed a turnover and was called for a technical foul, leading to a 52-47 Western Kentucky (11-6, 5-1) advantage on a Sergio Kerusch layup with 7:58 left.

Middle Tennessee tied the game at 61 on a jumper by Calvin O’Neal with 17 seconds left.

A.J. Slaughter led the Hilltoppers with 16 points and Kerusch added 15. Orlando Mendez-Valdez scored 14, and had two assists, tying him for ninth all-time on the Hilltoppers career list with Courtney Lee.

Desmond Yates scored 14 points and Nigel Johnson and Kevin Kanaskie added 11 each for the Blue Raiders.
