Georgia Southern tops UNC Greensboro 72-63
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP)—Tyler Troupe scored 23 points to lead Georgia Southern to a 72-63 win over North Carolina-Greensboro on Thursday night.
The Spartans (2-12, 1-4 Southern Conference), coming off an 85-83 overtime win Saturday over Appalachian State that ended a 10-game losing streak, jumped out to a 17-10 lead.
The Eagles (5-8, 3-2) cut the margin to 29-27 at halftime. After Troupe scored nine straight points in the second half to tie the game at 40 with 14:30 left, Georgia Southern went on a 17-4 run.
UNC Greensboro (2-12, 1-4) pulled within four points at 66-62 with 2:12 left, but scored only one point the rest of the way.
Ben Drayton III added 21 points for Georgia Southern and Antoine Johnson had 11.
Ben Stywall led the Spartans with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Mikko Koivisto and Landon Clement scored 11 points apiece.
