The Citadel edges Furman 74-69 in OT
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP)—Zach Urbanus scored nine of The Citadel’s 12 points in overtime as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat Furman 74-69 on Thursday night.
Cameron Wells scored 22 points for the Bulldogs (8-9, 3-3 Southern Conference) and Urbanus finished with 20 to keep the Paladins (2-12, 0-5) winless in league play.
Furman, which had won the last four games and 13 of the previous 15 in the 189-game series, took a 32-24 halftime lead.
Wells scored 17 points in the second half on 8-for-10 shooting to even the game at 62 at the end of regulation.
That’s when Urbanus took over. He had a 3-pointer, a layup and hit four foul shots—the last pair with 3 seconds left—to seal the win.
Furman was 1-for-7 from the field in overtime.
Justin Dehm and Jordan Miller led the Paladins with 17 points apiece.
The Bulldogs won the battle of the boards 38-16.
