NC Central beats Texas-Pan American 77-71

DURHAM, N.C. (AP)—Jamar Briscoe scored 21 points and North Carolina Central won its first game of the season, defeating Texas-Pan American 77-71 on Wednesday night.

The victory was the first for the Eagles (1-18) since defeating Winston Salem 60-56 on March 15 of last season.

N.C. Central led by as many as 21 points, 69-48, on a Joshua Worthy layup with 5:31 left.

Vincent Davis added 20 points for N.C. Central and Bryan Ayala chipped in 12.

The Broncs (5-11) were led by Emmanuel Jones with 15 points and eight rebounds, and Nick Weiermiller with 14 points and seven assists.

Texas-Pan American shot 61.4 percent form the field (27 of 44), but committed 20 turnovers which led to 21 Eagles’ points.

N.C. Central hit 7 of 11 from 3-point range, including a perfect 3 of 3 by Davis.
