E. Michigan beats Cent. Michigan 84-77 in 2OT
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP)—Tyler Jones scored a career-high 22 points and Brandon Bowdry added 22 to help Eastern Michigan to an 84-77 double-overtime victory over Central Michigan on Tuesday night, snapping the Eagles seven-game losing streak.
Freshman L.J. Frazier added a career-high 17 points for the Eagles (1-1 Mid-American, 3-13).
Jordan Bitzer and Jeremy Allen added 21 and 17, respectively, for Central Michigan (0-2, 3-11), which is off to its worst start since the 2005-06 season when it began the season 2-12.
Eastern Michigan built a six-point cushion in the second overtime and Zane Gay’s 3-pointer with 19.3 seconds remaining secured the win.
Frazier made a 3-pointer and two free throws in the final 47 seconds of the first overtime to give Eastern Michigan a 71-68 advantage. Bitzer sent the game into double overtime with a 3-pointer with 12.1 seconds left.
