Grambling State defeats Alcorn State 83-65
GRAMBLING, La. (AP)—Andrew Prestley scored 18 points to lead Grambling State to an 83-65 victory over Alcorn State on Monday night.
The Tigers (4-11, 2-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led only 36-34 at halftime, but controlled the second half, shooting 61.8 percent from the field (21 of 34).
Grambling opened the second half on a 16-4 run, highlighted by Prestley’s six points, for a 52-38 lead with 13:23 left in the game.
Alcorn State cut the lead to 68-58 on Troy Jackson’s layup with 5:01 remaining, but Donald Qualls hit a 3-pointer and the Braves (2-14, 0-4) never threatened again.
Prestley was 9 of 12 from the floor and Jarred Riley, who scored 14 points, was 7 of 10 from the field.
Jordan Lemons scored 13 points and Jamal Breaux added 12 points for the Tigers.
Anthony Ford scored 28 points to lead Alcorn State and Jackson added 17 points.
