Loyola, Md. 59, St. Peter’s 61

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP)—Ryan Bacon’s twisting layup with 3.5 seconds left to play gave St. Peter’s a 61-59 win over Loyola, Md. on Sunday.

The teams had traded the lead during the final three minutes before Loyola’s Anthony Winbush made two free throws to tie the score at 59-59 with 35.5 seconds remaining. The Peacocks then eventually worked the ball to Nick Leon, who split a double-team and passed to Bacon, who maneuvered around a defender and banked the ball in for the basket.

Leon finished with 17 points to lead the Peacocks (5-11, 2-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), while Bacon added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Wesley Jenkins had 11 points.

Jamal Barney had a game-high 21 points for the Greyhounds (5-12, 1-5), while Brett Harvey and Isaac Reid scored 11 points each.
