James Madison topples William & Mary 74-65
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Kyle Swanston scored 21 points to lead James Madison to a 74-65 victory over William & Mary on Saturday night.
Swanston shot 6-for-11 from the field, and made four 3-pointers for the Dukes (11-6, 3-2 Colonial Athletic Association). Pierre Curtis and Heiden Ratner chipped in with 13 points apiece.
Danny Sumner led the Tribe (6-9, 1-4) with 16 points and eight rebounds. David Schneider scored 11 points and Kendrix Brown added 10.
Schneider’s jumper with 8:59 to play in the first half gave William & Mary a 23-9 advantage—its largest lead of the game. But James Madison responded with a 20-6 run to end the half and tie the score at 29-29.
The Dukes then used a 12-0 run to take a 44-35 lead with 12:45 remaining in the second half. William & Mary never regained the advantage, and failed to get any closer than four points.
