Liberty defeats Charleston Southern 79-60

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP)—Seth Curry scored 27 points and Liberty held off Charleston Southern 79-60 on Saturday night.

The Flames (11-6, 2-3 Big South Conference), who had lost five of their previous nine games by a combined 11 points, led 55-53 with 10:03 left. Liberty then held the Buccaneers (5-9, 1-3) to one basket in the next 9:43.

Charleston Southern lost its sixth straight game despite outrebounding Liberty 39-34. The Buccaneers turned the ball over 18 times compared to nine turnovers for Liberty.

The Flames took a 35-29 advantage into halftime, but the Buccaneers moved ahead briefly at 37-35 on two 3-pointers and a layup by Jamarco Warren.

Liberty took the lead for good on a Curry layup with 13:27 left.

Anthony Smith added 13 points for Liberty, while Brolin Floyd had 12 and Kyle Ohman added 10.

Warren led Charleston Southern with 24 points.
