George Mason defeats Old Dominion 61-53
FAIRFAX, Va. (AP)—Darryl Monroe had his third straight double-double as George Mason remained perfect at home and in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 61-53 win over Old Dominion on Saturday.
Monroe scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Patriots (12-3, 5-0) remained tied atop the conference standings with Northeastern. George Mason, which won for the ninth straight time at home, has won four straight games and seven of its last eight overall.
Ben Finney had 16 points and Gerald Lee added 15 points for the Monarchs (9-6, 2-3), who dropped their second straight game.
Old Dominion drew to within four points with just under five minutes to play, but a 3-pointer by Cam Long and a tip-in by Monroe helped push the lead back to 55-46. George Mason, which limited the Monarchs to 38 percent shooting from the field, has held 11 straight opponents under 70 points.
