Florida A&M defeats Howard 79-74 in overtime

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)—David Buchanon scored 14 of his 17 points in overtime to lead Florida A&M to a 79-74 win over Howard on Saturday night.

Buchanon made three 3-pointers during an 80-second stretch in overtime to give the Rattlers (3-10, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a nine-point lead. His four free throws in the final 14 seconds sealed Florida A&M’s first conference victory of the season.

Howard (1-13, 0-2) suffered its 13th consecutive loss after Kyle Riley made two free throws with 1.3 seconds remaining in regulation tied the score at 61-61 to forced overtime.

Riley was fouled by Yannick Crowder while battling for a pass after Ballard made the second of two free throws to put the Rattlers in front, 61-59.

Eugene Myatt led Howard with 22 points, while Riley finished with 15 after being held scoreless in the first half.
