Cent. Connecticut St. tops FDU 91-78
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP)—Ken Horton scored 29 points to lead Central Connecticut State to a 91-78 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday night.
Marcus Palmer added 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Blue Devils (7-8, 3-2 Northeast Conference), while Shemik Thompson finished with 12 points and nine assists as Central Connecticut made 64 percent of its shots.
Sean Baptiste had 24 points, seven rebounds and seven steals for the Knights (2-13, 2-4), while Cameron Tyler and Eric Moore each scored 20 points and Terence Grier finished with 10 points.
The teams traded baskets early on, but Central Connecticut closed out the first half with an 18-9 and led 41-38 at the break. The Blue Devils then opened the second half with a 17-7 run, but FDU fought back and cut the lead to 73-67 with 3:52 left to play.
The Knights, though, would not get any closer, and the Blue Devils sealed the win by making 9-of-10 free throws in the final 90 seconds.
