Sacred Heart defeats St. Francis, Pa. 76-60
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP)—Joey Henley scored a season-high 25 points to lead five Sacred Heart starters in double-figures in a 76-60 victory over St. Francis, Pa., Thursday night.
Henley, a redshirt senior, finished 12 of 13 from the field as Sacred Heart (5-9, 3-2 Northeast Conference) snapped a three-game losing streak. Ryan Litke and Corey Hassan each added 14 points for the Pioneers in their first starts of the season.
St. Francis (4-10, 1-3 NEC) lost its fifth-straight despite 13 points from Cale Nelson. His 3-pointer pulled the Red Flash within 63-55 with 2:48 left in the game. Litke answered with a 3-pointer when Nelson slipped guarding an inbound pass under the basket.
Sacred Heart opened the game on a 25-2 run and led by as many as 26 points in the closing moments of the first half. St. Francis made only four field goals en route to 15.4 percent shooting in the opening half.
