Cent. Connecticut beats Wagner 67-57
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP)—Ken Horton scored 21 points to lead Central Connecticut to a 67-57 win over Wagner on Thursday night.
The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Blue Devils (6-8, 2-2 Northeast Conference), who last won on Dec. 20 against Princeton.
Shemik Thompson added 17 points and Marcus Palmer had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Central Connecticut.
Jamal Smith led Wagner with 15 points. The Seahawks (9-5, 2-2 NEC) also had 13 points from Justin Drummond and 11 from Llew Radford.
Central Connecticut took a 23-7 lead in the first eight minutes of the game. Wagner came back with 50 percent shooting to cut the lead to 33-29 at halftime.
The Seahawks drew within two points, 35-33, early in the second half. But the Blue Devils pulled ahead 43-33 with 15 minutes left and Wagner could get no closer than nine points the rest of the game.
