Centenary defeats Oakland 80-60
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP)—Nick Stallings scored 26 points and Centenary defeated Oakland, Michigan 80-60 in the Gentlemens’ home opener on Thursday night.
Centenary (3-13, 1-3 Summit Conference) scored 27 points off of 16 Oakland (10-8, 3-2) turnovers.
Chase Adams added 17 points and seven assists for the Gentleman and Gary Redus and Maxx Nakwaasah chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies were 2-for-19 from 3-point range, while Centenary hit 11 of 19 shots from beyond the arc.
Centenary outscored Oakland 32-28 in the paint, 10-6 off the fast break and 42-17 off the bench.
The Golden Grizzlies were led by Erik Kangas with 15 points, Johnathon Jones with 13 and Keith Benson with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Drew Maynard grabbed 10 rebounds for Oakland which won the battle of the boards 40-34.
