N.C.-Asheville 86, Gardner-Webb 76
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP)—Matt Dickey scored 18 points and Reid Augst added 17 to lead North Carolina-Asheville to a 86-76 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night.
Gardner-Webb (5-9, 1-3 Big South Conference) led 43-38 at halftime and 57-48 with 13 minutes left, but was just 9-for-33 from the field in the second half.
The Bulldogs (7-8, 3-1) shot 56.6 percent for the game (30 of 53), and had six players in double figures. J.P. Primm added 13 points, Jason Ridenhour had 12 points, Eric Stubbs chipped in 11 points and Chris Stephenson scored 10.
Jonathan Moore scored 22 points to lead Gardner-Webb. Also for the Runnin’ Bulldogs, Auryn MacMillan scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half and added 11 rebounds.
UNC-Asheville played without its second-leading scorer and leading rebounder John Williams (11.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game), who was ill.
